Defcon way back in 1998 were at the forefront of the new wave of UK HipHop, distributed by ‘Pinnacle Distribution’ worldwide. The record label invested and dropped with ‘Natty and Dwella‘ who created the 1998 underground smash ‘Twisted Dreams’ as well as the Global smash ‘War’ (1999) and also ‘Fake Mcs’ (2000) which was an exclusive for ‘StoneGroove Records’ for the critically acclaimed ‘RawMaterials’ and featured Roots Manuva and London Posse amongst others.
This went on to blow up the airwaves of Japan, Australia and France among the many countries that supported and was produced by the now Legendary ‘Mr Thing’.
Since then we have released a slew of artists most notably in 2012 when Defcon returned and invested in CaxtonPress supporting them on an amazing journey which culminated in them winning ‘WordPlay’ magazines album of the year as well as gaining exposure through a whole leap of magazines, web sites and newspapers including the London Metro.
And the beat goes on…
2015 sees us drop NattySpeaks Album (TrueHuman) formerly known as Natty he changed his name due to an infringement from a ‘guy called Donald’. His tune ‘HappyDaze’ is currently ripping up the scene and making a mug of the banking system and those that benefit from the downfall of others.
2015 also sees ‘Profit’ joining the mighty Defcon stable, releasing ‘Electric Smile’ Featuring Serocee and Mystro as well as the follow up ‘True Colours’ Featuring The Legend that is Chip-Fu from the mighty ‘Fu-Shnickens’.
While the youth wait patiently for the follow up to Joe Burn’s smash with Daddy Skitz (Babylon Control) and the ridiculously talented, Icelandic outfit of CryptoChrome mix and finalise the follow up album to ‘CryptoChrome’ ‘LightHouse’ we wait, think and re-energise.
Defcon Records will be bringing you the back catalogue in the near future and digitising some of the classics that you all love, this will be made available for free and downloadable in the near future as a massive thank you for all your support.
Look out for all the new releases, vibes and switch in direction. Music for all, from the soul, by the soul, for the soul. Look out for the Defcon crew at multiple festivals over the Summer including Glastonbury, BoomTown, Nozstock and others..
